7 Huge Campaign Billboards Controlled in South Jakarta

The campaign of the 2014 legislative election has entered quiet phase, in which based on rules, all campaign attributes must be controlled. In South Jakarta, the control of legislative candidates and political parties’ campaign props is carried out by local Satpol PP. As a result, 10 thousand campaign props consist of flags, banners, and even billboards are successfully controlled.

“The quiet phase agreed was April 6-8. On April 6, the lowering of campaign props was the responsibility of each party. Passing that date, Satpol PP will control the props, based on the recommendation of the Election Supervisory Committee (Bawaslu),” stated Head of South Jakarta Satpol PP, Sulistiarto, Monday (4/7).

According to Sulistiarto, his party also removed huge billboards in the size of 6x12 meters and 6x18 meters wide. To remove it, special officers were needed to climb the poles. “The billboards were huge, so we deployed four officers special to climb. While in lowering standard props, we dispatched 25 personnel,” he uttered.

Some of the controlled billboards were located on Jalan Fatmawati Raya, Jalan Margaguna, Jalan Arteri Pondok Indah, Jalan Iskandarsyah, Jalan Pangeran Antasari, as well as in TB Simatupang and Kapten Tendean. As for campaign props on secondary roads, those will be controlled by sub-district task force.

“Until April 8, we will keep controlling campaign props. Until today, the campaign props controlled, including small flags and banners, have reached more than 10 thousand pieces,” he finished.
